Starting hand of 2 Rune cards, 3 Word of Power cards, and 60 Power tokens.

Set Up: Everyone starts with 3 Word of Power cards (dealt 5 then they pick 3 to keep), 2 Rune cards, and 60 in Power tokens (10 ones, 4 fives, and 3 tens works well). The tokens are kept behind the player screen and the cards are in your hand. Then deal 5 Rune cards to the center of the table and one Word of Power card off to the side.

Phase 1: On your turn (called the “Nominator”), draw 2 cards. You may draw either two Rune cards or two Word of Power cards. After drawing, discard 1 card from your hand (a Rune card if you drew Runes, a Word card if you drew Words). The other players have a chance to buy the discarded Rune card from you at this point (you may not buy discarded Word cards).

Phase 2: Next, flip Rune cards from the deck to the center of the table. The number of cards flipped depends on the number of players (1 card shown here for 4 players). Then, out of all of the Rune cards in the center, pick Rune card(s) to “nominate.” Show this by turning your choice sideways or separating it from the group. You will nominate the same number of cards that you flipped (but not necessarily those cards).

Nominator chooses to take the highest bid (5) so that player gets to take the Rune card.
All other players (not the Nominator) do a silent bid for the nominated Rune card(s). They take their desired bid into their hand then reveal it at the same time. You, (the Nominator) have two choices: you may take the highest bid and that player takes the nominated Rune card, or you may pay everyone the same amount that they bid and take the nominated Rune card for yourself.
A Word of Power being played without sharing any runes. They get 70 Power tokens and the 3 Rune cards are put in the discard pile. The Word of Power card remains next to the other Word of Power card.
A Word of Power being played by sharing 1 rune. They get 70 Power tokens and the 2 Rune cards are put in the discard pile. The Word of Power card will be placed on top of the other Word of Power card.
Phase 3: If you are able to, you may play one of your Word of Power cards. Discard all of the Rune cards that are shown on the Word of Power. Get the amount of Power tokens shown at the bottom of the card from the bank. You also have the option to borrow one Rune from a Word of Power on the table. This means you do not need to discard that Rune card. Your Word of Power will be placed on top of the Word of Power you borrowed from.
Game End: The game end is triggered when someone has either played all of their Word of Power cards or has reached 500 in Power tokens. Then everyone else gets one last chance to draw cards and play a Word of Power. The player with the most Power Tokens at the end wins the game!
